I'm Ariel aka happymediocrity, aka TheQueenOfMediocrity. I recently acquired a free VW bus. This only goes to show that impossible dreams can come true. I have this habit of naming inanimate objects. I talk to them, as well. Don't worry; I don't expect them to talk back.

I call my self a writer. If I'm being honest, that label feels fraudulent. I attempt writing lyrics, but so far I think my home is where commas, semi-colons, and quotation marks can exist comfortably. Rhymes and stanzas don't seem to appreciate what I do to them. Hopefully, we can come to a satisfying compromise.

I'm a singer, through and through; it's the art-form into which I've poured the most hours of my short life. I'm a mezzo-soprano, the only voice type cool enough for five syllables and a hyphen. I play piano, though I'm more expressive than technical, yet Maestra loves me. I've recently gained some perspective in the opera institute. Apparently, my style works and I need to be aware of this. Perspective fuckin' rocks... except when it doesn't.

I love baking fun things like cookies, brownies, cupcakes and cakes shaped like Volkswagen buses. I also like Shasta brand cola and Southern style greens. I like typing on my family's keyboard with its sideways "T" key. It makes me feel all postmodern. Postmodern is a weird movement. I enjoy the writing of Oscar Wilde, and I need to read it more. I write on my laptop which I named for him.

I love the music of Amanda Palmer and the Dresden Dolls, and I secretly wish I could be so bad-ass, yet feel fated to my strange brand of sarcastic meekness. I text too much. My percentage is 60/40. I have a crush on Dita von Teese, and I'm pretending the whole fucking Marilyn Manson thing never happened.

If you want me to read your journal, I would really appreciate if you knew the difference between "your" and "you're," and "there,""they're," and "their." Well, I appreciate you at least trying. Can you tell I nearly pursued an English degree? I believe this has gotten long enough, but I don't post here as often as I used to, and this may be the most you learn about me for a while. I suppose you'll see me around, though.
