Jeanne D'Arc
Nov. 18th, 2007 05:02 pm Joan of Arc is officially my heroine. Her story is the most amazing I've ever heard.
She was the respected leader of grown men who were willing to fight and die under her command, when she was just 17. In the course of just about 2 1/2 years, she helped a monarch rise to power, commanded many decisive victories over the English, piss the British off enough that they needed to execute her to save their faces, and be tried and unjustly executed. She was 19 when she was burned at the stake, and though it would have been so easy to say, "I'm guilty, don't burn me," she chose to burn, never denying herself, or her story. That is such incredible strength.
