A word about the editor of the newspaper and the kid who wrote the article: I've gone to school with this guy for four years. He's brilliant(4.19 GPA, 2100 SAT) and totally ballsy. The boy featured in the offensive picture? The same.
Personally, I don't think the form of protest they're talking about is the most effective, but it is a protected right. I also think the way they went about it wasn't the best. But the point is, they had a right to do it. The newspaper should never have been dropped for the article, which you'll notice none of the newspapers reference or even quote.
